The session included a guided tour of the allotment, highlighting how the space can be used as a calm and tranquil environment. Participants were encouraged to view the space through a creative lens, with photography tips shared to help them capture finer details using their mobile phones. The group also explored cyanotype photography, creating sun prints using UV light — a hands‑on and accessible art form that sparked curiosity and excitement. Feedback from participants showed just how powerful the experience was. Many described feeling relaxed, calm, and welcome, with several commenting on the allotment feeling like a “little oasis”. Others spoke about the joy of trying something new, reconnecting with friends, and appreciating the smells, textures, and colours of the space. For some, initial apprehension quickly gave way to comfort and enjoyment. The impact of being in nature was a strong theme throughout the feedback. Participants shared that the session helped them feel happier, calmer, and more at ease, with some describing it as therapeutic and beneficial for their mental health. Feelings of stress, worry, and anxiety were eased, replaced by a sense of freedom, safety, and connection.
