Communi-Tea is a heartwarming new initiative designed to bring people together through conversation, creativity and community spirit. Created in partnership with Creative Black Country and The Space, the project celebrates local voices and shared experiences in a unique and meaningful way.

A Celebration of Connection

Guests gathered over a comforting cup of tea to listen to stories, memories and laughter captured in a specially produced sound piece — a beautiful reminder of the power of connection and belonging.

Led by Projects Manager Christina Murray and volunteer Michelle McClean, the event brought together residents, artists and partners who helped shape this inspiring project. Attendees reflected on the importance of small moments that bring people closer together, while enjoying the final recording that showcased these heartfelt stories.

How to Listen

The stories are accessible via a QR code printed on mugs — simply scan the code to listen. For those without a smartphone, the Centre has digital equipment available, including headphones and a tablet, so everyone can enjoy the stories.

We’ve also printed the QR code onto paper bags used to distribute food from our Community Fridge, helping share these stories with the wider community. Visitors to our Community Allotment will also be able to access the stories, with a supply of mugs available on site.

Everyone Has a Story to Tell

Communi-Tea gives the people of Smethwick a chance to share their stories and celebrate the everyday moments that connect us all.
