Thirteen members of staff from LV Insurance had a day out of the office in July to provide some much needed hands on support to our allotment team.

This is the third year running where LV have offered this help, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.

This year, the help was needed to clear a plot next to the recently renovated ‘Big Shop’ on the allotment site. The recently vacated plot was overgrown and dangerous but the staff from LV got stuck in and by the end of the week the area was transformed. The idea is that the ‘Big Shop’ which has recently had a new roof, windows, roller shutter, water supply, kitchenette, and generator, becomes a community hub and the outside area clear for activities and a seating area.

Paul Randall, Community Allotment Plot Lead, says “A big thanks must go to the team from LV for all of their hard work in transforming the plot. Considering they are used to being office based, they got stuck in, despite the muggy conditions and they really enjoyed themselves. This is their third year here, with some returning staff and new staff and they are already asking about returning next year so they must enjoy it!”

All at the Centre, and the allotment, would like to pass on our thanks to Daniel, Jack, Laura, Samiksha, Mandy, Dammi, Finn, John, Harman, Ahmed, Luke, Peter and Megan.
